Almost the weekend..

Since it is Friday it is time to try and figure out what to do this weekend, I am leaning towards a long ride on Saturday leaving my house at the crack of dawn.

This is the last weekend before the Galena Sprint Tri which is kind of the unofficial kick off to the tri season here in Chicago. I know this is just a Sprint and the ultimate goal is Louisville at the end of the year but I am really looking forward to seeing where things are at. Also just excited to actually be doing a race as it seems we have been hamsters on a wheel for the last five months as much as we have been in on the Computrainers due to the horrible Chicago weather.

Right now the plan is go out early tomorrow and get 70 or so in followed up with a quick run. If I leave early enough I should be back mid morning and still have time to hang with the family which I am sure the wife would appreciate. Sunday is going to be another long run and not sure when I am going to get this in as it is Mothers Day and plans have yet to be determined, but will find time to fit it in.

On a different topic, I am not sure what the deal is with swimming and my legs cramping. It seems whenever I do a hard run at lunch and have a bunch of fast sets at masters my legs cramp, I am trying to determine if this is due to not enough fluids/food during the day or a side affect of the way I push off the wall. Either way last night I totally blew up in the pool during the last set of 4x200 pulls, totally cramped up on both legs, not fun. Let's just day today I am downing water like crazy and cutting back on the coffee, I also made sure to start the day with a big breakfast at Egg Harbor, yummy!

The positive thing that came out of swimming is after the warm up and a couple of other sets that I don't really remember we did 6x100 all out. The first one was done at 1:13 which is up there with my fastest ever and I was able to stay within 3 seconds for the next 4 and hit the wall on the last one coming in at 1:22 but overall happy with the progress this year in the pool, sucks that masters ends next Thursday. After that it is all on me to swim by myself throughout the summer and continue the intensity in the pool.

Let's hope for good weather this weekend and next week at this time we will be heading to Galena for the weekend, lake temp is already a balmy 61 degrees.
