Man what a weekend! It was finally a weekend with pretty good weather and I was sure glad to enjoy it.
Saturday morning was cool and overcast but I knew it was going to get better later in the day so I opted to do my ride run in the afternoon when the little man went down for his nap. Bright and early I got up and got a ton of yard work done that I had been neglecting, I mowed, pulled weeds, trimmed the trees and had it all done by 10 which was a relief as I wouldn't have it hangin over me the rest of the weekend. After that we played with all the neighbor kids and enjoyed the remaining time of the morning.
By 1 or so the weather was perfect, sunny and almost no wind so I got on the bike and headed out. I was riding by myself so I wanted to a do a little time trial for 56 miles and see if I was under my goal for Kansas, ended up hitting it relatively easy so hopefully things go well down there. I rode another 10 miles and came home and headed out for the transition run. I went a little over 5 miles and was having some serious stomach issues, I think I over did the Carbo Pro/GU2O mix on the bike but that is what training is for is to figure it out for the big race. The good thing is I went out on the first mile off the bike at a 7:03 pace, a little to fast for me to sustain but was good that the legs responded. I averaged right at a 7:30 for the run which I was happy with.
For Sunday the plan was for a long run and a quick spin on the bike. I could not get going in the morning no matter how much coffee I drank. I opted to once again to push the workout back until mid afternoon even though I knew it would be hot. After a morning of running errands and getting some household stuff done and much needed nap I headed out. I ended up running 15.25 miles at a 7:50 pace and I felt every bit of the workout on Saturday but was glad to be mentally pushing through the last couple of miles. After the run I hopped on the bike for a quick 40 minute spin and I think I created a small lake under my bike from the sweat.
Overall it was a great weekend, over 20 miles ran and 80 miles rode, got a ton done around the house and spent some quality time with the family. What a great weekend but I am wiped, I looking forward to bed and a much needed rest day tomorrow.

Nice job on the big workout weekend, I was out there with you; nothing like a 15 mile run in 90 degrees right? Oh yeah, IMKY it is going to be 90 degrees for 26 miles. Help us both!
Nice weekend. Where are the KS goals you came up with? I need to know what I need to make up and where!
I smell a little challenge between you and Hillard...this will be fun to watch play out...hopefully I'm done in time to watch you two dual it out on the run!!!
