So here is some of the highlights from the past couple of weeks that I have neglected to report on:
- Landon and my mom went to there first Cubs game on Friday the 3rd. This was great as it was Landon, Amy, my parents and myself. The last time my dad and I were at Wrigley was when I was in 4th grade or so. My mom had never been and of course it was Landon's first game. Can't wait to go more as he gets older. It was a great time and the Cubs won on a walk in the 10th, crazy.
- Why my parents were up over the 4th Amy and I decided to take advantage of the built in babysitting and run a 5K. This hasn't happened in awhile and is always fun. We both set 5K PR's and had a good time. I really wish we would of done this more before we had the little man as it is always fun to do something like that together.
- Went to the Cubs game again on the 6th with Rich. His fathers day present from his super nice wife was Cubs tickets and the evening with me. How thoughtful is she? This was a great time as we haven't seen as much of them the last couple of years as we had in the past and it is always fun to get together. Was expecting more fallout from the Blue Moon, Bud Select, Old Style mixture but no so much and a whole new way to carbo load. Also the Cubs are 2-0 when I attend their games this year, maybe they should give me season tickets?
- I also spent some time with my sister, niece and nephew before they headed back to Spokane after spending three weeks visiting family back in Iowa. No way I could do that, after a week away from home I am ready to get back to my bed.
- The Tour started and it is awesome, I absolutely love the team time trial.
On the training front things have been kicked up this week. I took the week off and wanted to concentrate on some great training without worrying about when to fit it in. I also needed a mental break from work as things have been crazy of late and really needed to get away.
Today was great, I had four hours of solid training.
It started with the Computrainer class, it was tougher than usual as it was all done on a 2% grade. Instead of repeating everything that was done go to Rick's Blog as he already has it summarized.
Overall it was a great day of training and it is amazing how much different it is when someone else is there to do the workout with you. I can not emphasize to folks the effectiveness of group workouts. Even if you are doing the same pace, same interval or same wattage having someone there will increase the productivity of your workout.
The self imposed training camp will continue with a climatic end of the week riding in Madison again and a Endure It! club group swim down in Lake Michigan on Sunday.
