OK I think I am finally getting over the depression of having to come back to work and leave the great area of Solvang California (the sunny skies and warm weather in Chicago today may be helping a bit).
If you ever want to find a very challenging, beautiful place to ride where the people are very friendly towards cyclists (we had one car stop and take our picture) I highly recommend the Solvang area. This place was off the charts, a ton of hills, not a lot of traffic, bike lanes and awesome views. Add in a great group of people and man what a week.
After staying out way to late on Saturday night and not getting back in to Chicago until the early hours of Monday my body was shot this week, I think the lack of sleep combined with all the hard riding took its toll and wiped me out. Throw on top of that one of the crappier weeks of work in long time leaves here on Friday not having done a damn thing all week with regards to excercising.
Starting Monday I plan on starting the training plan for IMAZ. This is a more structured schedule with goals for each week. I have some solid base training already in this year but now it is time to start building on that towards my overall goals for the year. The swimming is there and will only get better, the cycling is better than it was last year at this time and well the run it will come around as the structured training takes over, I hope.
I can't wait for Spring as that is when this sport really starts to get fun!

Crap, you mean what we have been doing isn't that fun? The base you have is awesome! And there is much more to come my friend...you're going under an hour for the swim at Arizona.
